APPEAL
The court heard oral arguments for Ms. Branch's appeal yesterday. We feel it went well. Our attorney made a great argument why the ruling of the original court should stand. I actually enjoyed this process from a spectator view. If you have never been to an appellant hearing, like I had not, it is everything you ever did in debate! The Appellant gets to argue their stance for 20 minutes and the three justices will ask questions during that 20 minutes. You have to be prepared with anything because you just never know what they will ask. When that 20 minutes is over the Appellee (that would be us!) argues their side. Again, justices ask lots of factual questions. The Appellant then gets another 5 minutes to close, again, answering any questions the justices may have. While it was fascinating to watch, had I not had a stake in the process, it would have been amusing to basically critique the debaters. We sat in for the case that was before ours. I was amazed that attorneys who ma
